Integrative Mind & Body Psychotherapy

Hello, and a warm welcome

I'm Linda, a qualified Integrative Yoga Psychotherapist, Clinical Mind/Body Therapist and Nervous System Specialist. I specialise in Developmental / Complex Trauma and Addictions, and I’m currently undergoing further training in the treatment of Compulsive Sexual Behaviours, including Sex and Pornography Addiction.

I work with adults of any age presenting with trauma, addictions, compulsivity, anxiety, panic, depression, compulsive behaviours, emotional challenges, and relational and identity crises. I have an LGBTQIA+ inclusive practice which honours all genders and identities, and work in a neurodivergent affirming way, altering the environment to suit your experience.

I am an accredited Fellow member of the National Council of Integrative Psychotherapists (NCIP), registered student member of the Association for the Treatment of Sexual Addiction and Compulsivity (ATSAC), registered student member of the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT), and full registered member of the Complementary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC). I am bound by all their Code of Ethics.

My approach to therapy

My training is in Integrative Yoga Psychotherapy (IYP), a pioneering psychotherapy model that integrates talking therapy with mindfulness, breathwork, embodied somatic practices, and Buddhist wisdom. My practice is IYP at its core, and informed by Humanistic psychotherapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Internal Family System (IFS), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Gestalt, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Somatic Trauma Psychotherapy, Existential Psychotherapy, and Spiritual Counselling.

As an integrative therapist, I use all my training and expertise to help you live in a more conscious and embodied way, to get to the root of your problems, and not just manage the symptoms. I believe that the journey through suffering, healing and self-development is a multi-faceted, dynamic unfolding path and, as such, it requires a truly holistic perspective of the individual, exploring how emotions, feelings, thoughts and self-beliefs affect the body and how, in turn, working with the body, breath and nervous system regulation may provide healing and respite from suffering

This means that I am able to include:

·        Talking therapy to focus on developing the capacity of your mind to manage challenging internal chats, experiences, and beliefs. While this approach can be very useful, most times you can't think your way out of the problem, especially if it is rooted in trauma;

  • Somatic body-based therapy to focus on processing how your body holds these difficult internal chats, and offer regulation tools such as breathing or grounding techniques. This approach can be extremely powerful in bringing compassionate curiosity around the body and shifting deep emotions or self-beliefs, by way of re-balancing a nervous system that may have become dysregulated for example (anxiety, panic, hypervigilance, insomnia, IBS, chronic fatigue, to name a few symptoms);

  • Contextual and systemic approaches to therapy, as relevant to you as an individual in the context of your wider systems, to see how your relationships, the institutions you are part of, and your wider environment may affect your experience.

The therapeutic process

If you feel you may like to work with me, the first step is to contact me to arrange for a 15-minute introductory call. We will then arrange an initial consultation session where you will have the opportunity to explore desires and goals, and to ask questions related to my approach and therapeutic style.

Your initial consultation session gives us the chance to meet face-to-face and see if we feel we are a good match. It will also include an initial assessment of your current life and challenges, as well as the practicalities of working together, including payment terms and cancellation fees. If you choose to engage in therapy with me, we will then contract and work on an open-ended or shorter-term basis, with regular review of the therapeutic process using relevant assessments.

Whether you prefer a talking approach only, or are curious about my holistic mind/body style, we will always move at a suitable pace for you to cultivate safety, develop agency and self-growth. Throughout the process, I will listen and work with you along the way. This means that we may engage in talking therapy only, or some sessions may include a bit of movement - posture shift, subtle somatic changes, shaking, tapping, bringing awareness to the body and connecting how words we speak are felt in the body, making sense and befriending emotional response. Other times perhaps all you need may be mindfulness, deep relaxation or breathwork.

If you are curious to find out how we can work together to create meaningful change, insight and transformation in your body, mind and soul, get in touch.

You will be welcome here just as you are.
